Douglas Costa says Serie A is ‘perfect league’ after snubbing Manchester City and Manchester United interest to join Juventus

Douglas Costa has revealed he joined Juventus as Serie A is the 'perfect' league for him.

The winger has signed for the Italian champions from Bayern Munich on a season-long loan for an initial fee of £5.3m, but he can join them permanently for £35.4m next summer.

Prior to joining Juventus, Costa had been heavily linked with a move to either Manchester City or Manchester United.

The Premier League big hitters had been scouting the 26-year-old towards the end of last season and there was talk they would swoop this summer.

However, Costa has now revealed, after officially joining Juventus, that he was always keen on a move to Italy as the style of football suited him.

"What I like and don't like about Serie A? It's a strong league, perfect even," said Costa at his unveiling in Italy on Monday.

"I'm very quick and I hope to fit in quickly. I don't like physical contact very much, but I'll adapt.

"It'll take a while for me to develop an affinity with everyone and the environment here, but I've already been given some advice and I hope to come in handy right away."
