Danny Murphy tells Arsenal: Give Alexis Sanchez what he wants – he’s worth it!

Danny Murphy has told Arsenal to bow to Alexis Sanchez’s wage demands and give him a new bumper contract - because it’ll be CHEAPER than finding a replacement.

There is still a great deal of uncertainty surrounding Sanchez’s future at the Emirates Stadium.

The 28-year-old is entering the final 12 months of his contract with the Gunners, and he and the club have yet to come to an agreement over a possible extension.

Latest reports claim Sanchez has turned down the most recent offer of £275,000-a-week, and is demanding a mega £400,000-a-week contract to stay at Arsenal.

And with Manchester City reportedly keen on the forward, Murphy believes the Gunners should cough up the money.

A new four-year £400,000-a-week deal would cost the London club around £83million, and Murphy insists they are unlikely to get a valid replacement for the Chilean for the same money in the transfer market.

“What Sanchez is demanding, that’s the going rate because he can get that elsewhere,” the former Liverpool midfielder told talkSPORT host Jim White.

“The simple equation is this: £400,000-a-week is £20m a year, over four years that’s £80m.

“To sign a player to take his place, it’s going to cost you at least £60m or £70m, and that’s if you can find one.

“But Arsenal can’t replace Sanchez with someone of his quality, because someone that good won’t go there.”
