Crystal Palace BLOW! Captain Scott Dann could miss rest of season with knee ligament injury

Crystal Palace manager Sam Allardyce fears Scott Dann’s season could be over after suffering a knee ligament injury, but insists the club will 'work extremely hard' to get the captain back to fitness soon.

The 30-year-old defender picked up the problem during Saturday's victory over Chelsea, and he is now in a brace for the next two to three weeks.

Eagles boss Sam Allardyce is hopeful Dann can recover quickly but, with the season drawing to a close, he has admitted the centre-back may not play again this term.

"Scott Dann is a lot more serious than we thought," said Allardyce.

"He's in a brace at the moment. He'll be in a brace for two or three weeks and then we'll go from there.

"We'll work extremely hard to get him back as quick as we can, but there's not long left of the season."

Dann's injury means he will miss Palace's clash with Southampton on Wednesday, but the Eagles could welcome back fellow defenders James Tomkins and Patrick van Aanholt.

"They're in contention for Southampton and maybe even Arsenal [on Monday April 10]," Allardyce added.
