Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho to appeal against £50k fine from FA after branding it a ‘disgrace’

Jose Mourinho has confirmed he will appeal against the £50,000 fine and one-match suspended stadium ban handed out to him by the Football Association.

The Chelsea boss was sanctioned on Wednesday evening after accepting a misconduct charge for ranting about officials in the wake of his side's 3-1 loss to Southampton on October 3.

The level of punishment left Mourinho furious, with the Portuguese describing it as a 'disgrace', and he will now contest the ruling after reading the FA's written reasons.

"I have to be honest with myself. It's the most important thing so I have to appeal," Mourinho said.

"The moment we got the written reasons and I decided to appeal is the moment to stop with my opinions and not to add anything more than I did already.

"I think I was very objective in my sadness facing the situation."

Mourinho made it clear on Thursday that he was angry with the FA's ruling, and complained that he was treated differently to his Arsenal counterpart Arsene Wenger.

"Every word I say is a big risk for me," he said.

"I am happy that I don't have an electronic tag. I think it's not far from (that).

"I also think that £50,000 in the world where we live today is an absolute disgrace.

"And I also think that the possibility of getting a stadium ban is also something absolutely astonishing."
