Arsenal transfer report: Gunners make £26m bid for Monaco star Thomas Lemar

Arsenal have tabled a former offer of over £26million for Monaco midfielder Thomas Lemar, according to reports in France.

The 21-year-old enjoyed a brilliant campaign last season to help his side win the Ligue 1 title - scoring 14 goals and making 14 assists in all competitions.

Arsene Wenger is said to have made landing the France international - who can play as a number ten or on the wing - a top priority for the Gunners this summer.

Tottenham have also expressed an interest in the France international, but Arsenal are believed to be in pole position.

And, according to L'Equipe, they have firmed up their interest with a €30m [£26.4m] bid.

The report in the French newspaper claims Arsenal’s offer is ‘much higher’ than Atletico Madrid’s bid they submitted for the player last summer.
