Arsenal FC news: Arsene Wenger expects to have Aaron Ramsey back for Sunderland clash

Arsene Wenger is hopeful Aaron Ramsey will be back in action for Arsenal's match with Sunderland next week.

The Wales international has been sidelined since the opening day of the season with a hamstring injury.

Given his problems in the past, Arsenal have not rushed the midfielder back and instead given him a full five-week pre-season.

But Wenger has now revealed that the 25-year-old is nearing full fitness and could play at the Stadium of Light next weekend.

"Ramsey is progressing well and I believe fitness wise he is 90 per cent there," said Wenger.

"His potential return could not be against Reading on Tuesday, but Sunderland [on Saturday]."
