Arsenal boss Wenger bemoans ‘cheap’ Tottenham goals

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger claimed his side were “dominated” by Tottenham in the north London derby, but bemoaned conceding two “cheap” goals in the 2-1 defeat.

Harry Kane proved to be the match-winner for Mauricio Pochettino’s side with two second-half strikes, and the Gunners boss admitted Tottenham were the more adventurous side throughout.

“I’m disappointed with our performance, especially going forward,” said Wenger. “I thought we defended with resilience and solidarity, but going forward we made too many technical errors and we are not used to that. Many players were below par.

“They dominated us, especially in the middle of the park; at the end of the day we lost. The only regret we can have is that we gave two cheap goals away, but apart from that Tottenham had more of the ball and created more chances even if Lloris made some great saves.

But the 65-year-old said Arsenal’s home form will be critical in the race for Champions League next season.

He added: “It is a setback. In every season you have that. For us it is about recovering and preparing for the next game.

“We have played two more games away games that at home. It’s our home run that will be decisive.”
