Arsenal and Newcastle go head-to-head for ex-Chelsea winger Gokhan Tore

Arsenal and Newcastle are both chasing ex-Chelsea winger Gokhan Tore, according to reports in Turkey.

The 23-year-old, a former Manchester City target, is being eyed by a number of elite European clubs and Besiktas are bracing themselves for January interest.

And now it has been claimed that both Arsenal and Newcastle have been keeping close tabs on his progress this season and the duo are in the running to bring him back to England.

Tore knows all about England having played for Chelsea's youth team between 2009 and 2011. However, having failed to make a first-team debut at Stamford Bridge, he left for Hamburg in 2011.

His reputation has risen rapidly ever since and now the race is on to sign him following an impressive start to the new season.

Besiktas currently value him at £15m but, according to Turkish news outlet Bugun, the club are desperate to keep hold of him until the summer, when they will listen to offers.
