Liverpool legend says Man Utd player is best in the world

Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea put in another star performance as we held Liverpool to a 0-0 draw at Anfield on Saturday.

The Spaniard was particularly praised for his quick reactions to deny Joel Matip from close range towards the end of the first half when the Cameroon centre-back looked certain to score.

Speaking on Sky Sports’ Monday Night Football ahead of West Bromwich Albion’s trip to Leicester City this evening, Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher was discussing de Gea with United legend Peter Schmeichel.

Whilst Schmeichel said that Bayern Munich’s Manuel Neuer has been the best goalkeeper in the world for a number of seasons now, Jamie Carragher said that David de Gea is the best in the world right now.

David de Gea has kept a league-high seven clean sheets in our first eight games of the 2017-18 Premier League season with only Stoke City breaching our defence.

The Spaniard was forced into making five saves to keep Liverpool at bay on Saturday as Jurgen Klopp’s side had the majority of possession and territory.
