Henrikh Mkhitaryan admits he cannot wait to play alongside Mesut Ozil having always admired the Arsenal playmaker.

The Armenia international completed his move to the Gunners earlier this week in a swap deal which saw Alexis Sanchez move in the opposite direction to Manchester United.

Mkhitaryan shares many qualities with Ozil but Arsene Wenger is confident the two mercurial talents can work together and the 29-year-old is relishing the opportunity to relaunch his career in tandem with the former Real Madrid superstar.

‘Here at Arsenal I know that lots of players move a lot and it’s incredible the way [the team] plays. I will do my best to assist them as well,” he told Arsenal Player.

‘I think it will be really fun to play alongside Ozil. Everyone knows he’s a fantastic player, he’s an assist king! I look forward to it.

‘[I admire] his intelligence, the way that he can understand the game, reads the game, plus the way he gives pace to the game and of course his final decision.’

Arsenal could yet add Mkhitaryan’s former Borussia Dortmund teammate Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to the mix in what would represent a potentially devastating new forward line..

Asked whether both Mkhitaryan and Ozil can fit into the same team, Wenger said: ‘They can play together of course.’

When asked about a potential combination of Aubemeyang and Mkhitaryan, Wenger stressed that good players can always perform well together.

‘You look at players and what are their qualities, what can they give,’ Wenger said about the possibility of Aubemeyang and Mkhitaryan reuniting in Arsenal’s starting XI. ‘Good players can always play together.
