Bordeaux boss Gus Poyet says Malcom will not be allowed to leave the club this month despite interest from Tottenham and Arsenal.

The Brazilian has been heavily linked with a move to the Premier League and his representatives were seen in London around ten days ago.

The 20-year-old is rated at around £50million by the Ligue 1 club and he’s scored seven times in the league so far this term.

Malcom is believed to be keen on a move to England but Poyet – who took over as Bordeaux boss this week – says he will stay at the club until at least the end of the season.

‘I asked straight away if Malcom would be staying or not,’ said Poyet at his unveiling.

‘They said yes.

‘I said OK, now we can continue the discussion.’

Arsenal are believed to be keen on Malcom but their focus has been on Alexis Sanchez’s departure and the arrivals of Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

That had put Spurs in pole position but Bordeaux president Stephane Martin says Malcom will stay at the club.

‘Malcom, it has been said and repeated, he will not leave. He said he wanted to play in the Premier League someday.

‘It’s normal, which player would not want to play in England? So there is no problem Malcom.’
