Alexis Sanchez’s transfer to Manchester United appears to nearing its conclusion after the Chilean uploaded footage of him boarding a plane.
Red Devils boss Jose Mourinho revealed on Saturday that the club were ‘so close’ to announcing the deal, which will see Henrikh Mkhitaryan move the opposite way to Arsenal in a straight swap.
While the Armenian is already in London and likely to undergo a medical today, Sanchez only just appears to be flying up to Manchester now as he looks to rubberstamp the move.
Sanchez updated his Instagram story with a short clip of him boarding a small private plane, presumably bound for Manchester, in what looks like snowy Biggin Hill airport.
Upon touching down, Sanchez is expected to undergo a medical and sign on the dotted line of a contract that will make him the most expensive player in the Premier League.
After Arsenal’s thumping 4-1 win over Crystal Palace on Saturday, manager Arsene Wenger had suggested that Sanchez was driving up to Manchester – though he opted for a private jet instead.
About Sanchez’s absence against Palace, he explained: ‘I didn’t take him because there is a question of him moving to United. You can’t drive north and play football.
‘I expect it to happen, but I can’t announce it. In the next 48 hours it will be decided.
‘Until it’s over the line you can’t say it will happen. If you want to have a bit, it could happen.
‘Sanchez will only happen if Mkhitaryan comes here. That’s why it takes longer as well because it is coordinated.’
