Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge has to leave Liverpool but interested clubs will be put off by his £30million valuation, warns former Arsenal striker Charlie Nicholas.

According to reports last month the England international – who only made one appearance for the Three Lions in 2017-  is open to a move abroad as he searches for regular game time ahead of the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

La Liga sides Valencia and Real Betis have been credited with interest in the 28-year-old but the two Spanish clubs are believed to prefer a loan deal having been put off by Liverpool’s £30m valuation.

Nicholas says Liverpool are holding out for too much money considering Sturridge’s history of long-term injuries but admits he would still be amazed if the player doesn’t leave Anfield in some capacity.

‘It’s too much money for people take a chance,” he told Sky Sports’ Soccer Saturday. ‘He’s lost a yard of pace. He’s not getting a run in the team.

‘He’s fabulous when he’s playing well – as good as anyone in the Premier League – but we’ve not seen it regularly enough.

‘I’d be amazed if he stays at Liverpool, he’s got to go and play. But it will probably be on loan because £30m is too much of a risk.’
