Philippe Coutinho went ballistic after Dominic Solanke’s goal was disallowed

Philippe Coutinho proved beyond doubt that he cares about Liverpool after the side were denied a last-gasp winner in a goalless draw with West Brom.

Alan Pardew’s side managed to keep the Reds’ frightening attack at bay, but the Merseyside giants looked to have secured three points in the 82nd minute as Dominic Solanke fired the ball into the net.

Solanke, who started in Liverpool’s 1-1 draw with Everton, began as a substitute at Anfield and looked lively after replacing Sadio Mane with ten minutes of the match remaining on Merseyside.

However, referee Paul Tierney disallowed Solanke’s goal, with replays showing that the ball had hit the young forward’s arm in the lead-up to the effort.

Coutinho could not believe Tierney’s decision not to award the goal and was seen raging at the official with eight minutes remaining of the Premier League clash.

The pocket-sized Brazilian also shoved Claudio Yacob twice as the Baggies hard-man attempted to intervene.

Liverpool’s draw with West Brom mean they remain in fifth, with Arsenal only managing a point away at West Ham.

Asked about the disallowed goal, Baggies boss Pardew said: ‘I thought it was goal until I saw the linesman not move.

‘That’s always a good sign. It is a good call by the linesman because it is handball.’
