Manchester United defender Marcos Rojo is set to miss tonight’s clash against Bournemouth with Phil Jones in line to replace him in the starting line-up.

United host the Cherries at Old Trafford after losing further ground in the title race following Manchester City’s 2-1 win at the Theatre of Dreams on Sunday.

Rojo was forced off at half-time during the defeat after a clash of heads with David Silva and the Argentine had to have staples to close the wound on his forehead.

Victor Lindelof replaced Rojo but the Swede has mainly been used in a back three this term and Mourinho is likely to call on Jones to play against Eddie Howe’s men.

The England international returned to United’s squad for the game against City after missing three weeks with a thigh injury but he’s fully fit again now.

The 25-year-old had made a bright start to the season but succumbed to injury during an England friendly with Germany and Mourinho was far from pleased that he was risked.

United need all three points against the Cherries to put pressure on City, who face Swansea City away tonight before hosting Tottenham on Saturday.
