Unai Emery has talked up the importance of Julian Draxler to Paris St Germain, dealing Arsenal and Liverpool’s hopes of signing the forward a blow.

The Germany international had been widely considered surplus to requirements in the French capital following the arrivals of Kylian Mbappe and Neymar over the summer.

Reports suggested manager Unai Emery even told Draxler he had no future at the club.

However, he’s become increasingly involved with the first team as the current season has progressed and put in some impressive displays.

Emery now says the 24-year-old, who only moved to Paris in January, is an ‘important player’ for the club.

‘He’s in a constant evolution and he still has a lot of energy,’ Emery told Sky Sports.

‘At PSG, Draxler is in very good hands, he’s a great contributor to our game, he’s learning a lot.

‘I talk to him a lot and I’m very demanding with him and he’s one of those very ambitious players and he shows that with good performances, also for the national team, and he’s a very important player for us.’

Premier League duo Arsenal and Liverpool have both been linked with Draxler, however the chances of PSG allowing him to leave now appear remote.
