Manchester City midfielder David Silva is in a race to be fit for this weekend’s clash with Manchester United.

The 31-year-old played the full 90 minutes for City in their 2-1 defeat of West Ham at the weekend and scored the winner in the 83rd minute to increase the club’s winning streak to eight in all competitions.

Silva would have been a shoo-in to start at Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon, but Pep Guardiola revealed that the Spaniard is a doubt for the Mancunian derby.

Speaking ahead of City’s Champions League clash with Shakhtar Donetsk, Guardiola said: ‘Kevin De Bruyne is suspended tomorrow and David Silva has a little problem.

‘I don’t know whether he will recover for Sunday.’
