Ashley Young may have played a vital role in earning Manchester United three points against Brighton on Saturday, but that didn’t stop his team-mate Anthony Martial mocking him in the aftermath of the game.

A deflected strike from the former Aston Villa and Watford star looped into the back of the net to ultimately seal Jose Mourinho’s men a 1-0 lead to close the gap on Manchester City to five points.

Unfortunately for Young, the goal was awarded to Brighton defender Lewis Dunk, meaning that the 31-year-old remains without a goal in 18 months.

After the match, he tweeted: ‘That was a tough one today, big 3 points in the end!

‘Come on @premierleague….. my shot was going on target, I’ve waited long enough for a goal.’

His team-mate Martial was quick to jump onto Young’s tweet and branded his shot as ‘perfect’ in a mocking fashion.

‘Great goal bro the shot was perfect,’ he joked.

Young took it all in good spirits and replied: ‘Antoooo you know!’
