Jurgen Klopp could scarcely have hoped for a better opening 45 minutes in Liverpool’s Champions League clash with Sevilla on Tuesday night.

The Reds arrived in Spain as group leaders but Sevilla could topple Klopp’s men with a win on their own patch.

However, it was Liverpool that took the lead through Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane doubled the visitors’ advantage shortly afterwards after more slack defending from the hosts from a corner.

Sevilla had opportunities to get close the deficit but Liverpool grabbed their third when Mane’s shot was parried into the path of Firmino to extend his side’s lead.

The Brazilian had an open net to put his side 3-0 up and he didn’t waste the chance to mock the leaky Sevilla defence by hitting home with a ‘no-look’ finish.

Eagle-eyed supporters may have spotted Firmino performing the finish back in his Hoffenheim days but doing it in the Champions League is a whole different matter.

Sevilla were unbeaten at home for 25 matches before the visit of Liverpool but it longed a long way back for the Spaniards at half-time…
