Alexandre Lacazette admits it will be difficult to match his stunning goalscoring record at Lyon in the Premier League with Arsenal.

The France striker, who completed a move to the Emirates worth more than £50million in the summer, scored an impressive 37 goals for Ligue 1 outfit Lyon last season.

Lacazette scored on his Premier League debut in August and has followed up with a further three goals in his last six appearances.

But the 26-year-old admits he faces a steep challenge to replicate the numbers he produced at Lyon in north London.

‘I will try my level best to achieve that but there is a big difference in that I was played in virtually every match at Lyon,’ Lacazette said.

‘Here the manager likes to rotate players to keep them fresh for the Premier League.

‘I will try my best to score that many goals but this is my first season so it’s all quite new. I want to settle in and repay the confidence that’s been shown in me.

‘The main difference in the Premier League is that game is a lot more physical. The pace of the game is also very different – I now really understand what it means to play box to box.

‘Things can move so fast that you don’t have time to catch your breath or think about the next move.’

Arsene Wenger has been impressed by Lacazette’s impact this season and praised his touch, movement and finishing after he bagged a brace in the 2-0 victory over West Brom at the end of last month.

‘What is interesting is that he gets stronger in every game. You can feel, when we dominate the game, that he is always dangerous,’ Wenger said.

‘Good first touch, good movement and quality finishing.’
