The France international signed during the close-season in a club-record £52million deal from Lyon and has made an instant impact, scoring four times in his opening six Premier League matches.

Lacazette scored both goals in Monday’s 2-0 win over West Brom which lifted Arsenal up into seventh place ahead of Sunday’s match with Brighton, but his new fans were still scratching their heads as to the significance of his goal celebration.

Thankfully, the 26-year-old has moved to clarify the significance of a celebration which looks destined to be showcased on numerous occasions throughout his stay in English football.

‘It was based on a bet with a friend of mine who really likes music that involves trumpets,’ Lacazette told Arsenal Player.

‘It was a joke between the two of us. That’s how it all started, it was all a bet. I’ve just kept doing it and I really like it.

‘The first time was in a friendly: Lyon against Sporting Lisbon, I believe, and then I did it in the league at Nancy.’
