Chelsea youngster Andreas Christensen has explained how he’s feeling with life at Stamford Bridge after returning to the fold after two years on loan with Borussia Monchengladbach,

The Danish defender looks to be in the running for a first-team place after being given some early opportunities by Antonio Conte, though he faces plenty of top class competition in this Blues squad.

Chelsea haven’t always been known for trusting their youth, with Nathaniel Chalobah and Nathan Ake offloaded by the club this summer in favour of established big names in Tiemoue Bakayoko and Antonio Rudiger, respectively.

It remains to be seen if Christensen can break that mould, but the 21-year-old feels confident he can win over Conte after early signs that his presence is valued by the Italian tactician.

‘It is nice to know that the manager trusts you and he says he trust everyone and it is a good thing,’ Christensen told Chelsea’s official site.

‘Now everyone needs to just keep showing on the pitch what they can do.

‘The Tottenham game was very difficult and all Champions League games are big games so I have enjoyed the time I have had on the pitch, and I think so far I have shown good signs.’

Christensen also explained how he feels he’s improved from his time on loan, allowing him to play regularly in big competitions like the Champions League.

‘I played almost every game and in the Champions League we had difficult groups with Barcelona, Man City, Juventus, Celtic and Sevilla,’ he said. ‘So there were some tough games and it was hard to get something out of them but we did what we could and I enjoyed that two-year loan spell.

‘The first season we finished fourth in the league. We started out losing the first five games and then we won 14 or 15 in a row and the first season was the perfect season for me and for the club.

‘I got more game time so I have more confidence and I became more forward as a person. I am still the same person but more mature.’
