Dejan Lovren was widely criticised following Liverpool’s 2-2 draw with Sevilla and it appears one of the defender’s own team-mates was far from pleased with his performance at Anfield.
The Croatian’s confidence took a knock after his mistake gifted Sevilla their opening goal in the 5th minute and Liverpool fans began calling for Joe Gomez to take his place in central defence.
Gomez, who started the Champions League clash at right-back, has impressed for the Reds in the early stages of the season but was given his marching orders for a second bookable offence in injury time.
Soon after his red card, Gomez was caught ‘liking’ a post on Instagram suggesting that Jurgen Klopp should swap him for Lovren at the heart of Liverpool’s defence.
‘Can you f****** start playing centre-back. I’m sick of Lovren playing in the centre. Get Klopp to partner you in the centre cuz I know you’ll get the job done,’ the message to Gomez read.
Liverpool host Burnley this weekend and Gomez will be available as his suspension only applies in Europe.
The youngster will no doubt be hoping Klopp plays him at centre-back against Sean Dyche’s men.
