A number of Chelsea fans claimed they were relieved Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain snubbed a move to Stamford Bridge in favour of joining Liverpool following his display for England against Slovakia.
Gareth Southgate’s side clinched a 2-1 win at Wembley but were forced to come from behind after midfielder Stanislav Lobotka gave the visitors the lead after just three minutes.
England failed to impress during a tense first-half but levelled shortly before the break as Eric Dier turned home Marcus Rashford’s corner at the near post.
And Manchester United starlet Rashford secured the victory 15 minutes after half-time with a crisp strike from 20 yards following neat build-up play with Henderson and Harry Kane.
Oxlade-Chamberlain, who signed for Liverpool on deadline day despite major interest from Chelsea, endured a largely frustrating evening and was taken off with ten minutes remaining.
The 24-year-old, who cost the Reds £40million, found himself in a promising position on 21 minutes after leading a quick breakaway, but could only spoon his shot way over the bar.
