Liverpool have secured a deal for Naby Keita but the 22-year-old won’t leave RB Leipzig until next summer, reports claim.
The Guinean midfielder underwent a medical on Monday after a fee was agreed with the Bundesliga side and he will join them at the end of the 2017/18 campaign.
Leipzig refused to sell Keita throughout the summer, with Liverpool putting in a £70m bid at one stage.
However, with the midfielder having a release clause that comes into play next year of just £48m, they’ve secured a deal now, according to the Liverpool Echo.
It’s thought that Liverpool will pay above that fee in order to strike a deal now for his move to Anfield on July 1 2018 so that they can get ahead of the competition.
The fee will break the club’s transfer record, which was set earlier this summer with the £36.9m signing of Mohamed Salah.
