Tottenham expect to sign at least three new players before the close of the transfer window, Mauricio Pochettino has said.

Spurs have been among the least active Premier League sides this summer but can expect a hectic few days before Thursday’s transfer deadline.

So far only centre-back Davinson Sanchez has arrived at the club but more will follow.

‘We are working hard to add more quality to the squad,’ said Pochettino. ‘There are rumours in the media. I am confident we will get a minimum of three.

‘We will see what happens in the next few days on players in and out.’

Numerous players have been linked with a move to the north London club, with PSG right-back Serge Aurier among them.

Pochettino was speaking in the aftermath of Tottenham’s 1-1 draw with Burnley on Sunday. His side had looked on course for victory at Wembley thanks to Dele Alli’s goal but saw the visitors equalise through Chris Wood in injury time. The Tottenham manager has urged calm after the disappointing result.

‘The feeling is not so great because of the way we conceded the last goal. That is football. It was a tough game. Difficult for us to play. We had the chance to score a second or third but we missed. Sometimes you pay.

‘It is true we concede against Chelsea and the same again today. We need to stay calm and work hard and be more focused to the end.’

He continued: ‘This is only the beginning of the season. It is better it happen now. The only way to fix conceding is to work hard during the week. When everyone is back from the international break we will do that.

‘It is good that the next game is September. It was unlucky for him [Harry Kane] as he had lots of chances. I am not worried.’
