Chelsea are increasingly confident of signing Leicester City ace Danny Drinkwater and are preparing to raise their bid for the midfielder to £32million.

The Foxes turned down an initial £25m offer from Antonio Conte’s side and value Drinkwater at closer to £40m.

The England international is keen on a move to Stamford Bridge and Craig Shakespeare won’t stand in the former Manchester United man’s way should an acceptable offer come in.

Drinkwater signed a long-term deal 18 months ago and Leicester are under no pressure to sell the midfielder.

However, they accept the lure of west London is hard to resist and the Sun claim Chelsea will submit a new £32m bid for Drinkwater this week.

That offer is likely to be accepted by Leicester, who will look to reinvest straight away.

It’s likely to be a busy week at Stamford Bridge with Conte determined to sign as many as four new players before the transfer window closes next Thursday.

The Italian boss wants to strengthen in midfield, at full-back, centre-back and possibly with another forward.
