Manchester City forward Gabriel Jesus has set a new record for the longest unbeaten start to a Premier League career after Monday night’s draw with Everton.
The 1-1 tie at the Etihad means Jesus – who was substituted at half-time and replaced by Raheem Sterling, who netted the equaliser – has now lasted his first 12 Premier League matches without tasting defeat.
The Brazilian has won eight of those matches and drawn the other four, scoring seven times and laying on a further four assists.
The record was previously held by former Manchester United midfielder Simon Davies, who ironically is now in charge of City’s Elite Development squad.

He came through the United youth system as part of the Class of ’92, alongside the likes of david Beckham, Gary Neville and Nicky Butt.
He made only 11 Premier League appearances at the start of his career before leaving for Luton Town in 1997, but avoided defeat in each of those matches.
He was in the starting line-up on four occasions, and won seven of the 11 matches; by comparison, Jesus started all but three of the 12 games he has been involved in to date.
