Arsenal must not sell Alexis Sanchez in this summer’s transfer window as the amount they’d bring in for him would not be enough to sign a replacement, according to David Seaman.

The former Gunners goalkeeper is concerned about the prospect of Sanchez leaving for rivals Manchester City, especially due to his current contract situation.

The Chile international has just a year remaining on his current deal, meaning Arsenal would likely be forced to accept a reduced fee for his departure this summer.

Arsenal have remained firm that the 28-year-old will not be leaving, and Seaman believes it’s vital that they stick to this as even £50-70million would not be enough to bring in a good enough replacement in this market.

‘To replace him, It’d be hard,’ Seaman told Goal.

‘What are they going to get for him? He’s got a year left on his contract, his price-tag, I’d guess, would be around £50-70 million – you can’t guarantee spending that money and getting a player as good as Sanchez.

‘He’s a guy who is just brilliant all over the pitch.

‘I would do whatever it takes to hold on to him because he’s a quality player who you wouldn’t want to be leaving the club, especially to your rivals.

‘Sanchez-type players are the ones Arsenal should be bringing in.’

In recent days it has been claimed that Sanchez himself has agreed terms with Paris Saint-Germain, though Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has ruled out accepting any offer for him.
