Bayern Munich president Uli Hoeness has hinted his side are not making the transfer of Arsenal forward Alexis Sanchez a priority for the moment.

The Chile international has been strongly linked with a move away from the Emirates Stadium as he heads into the final year of his contract, with Bayern said to be among the contenders for his signature.

Manchester City are also chasing Sanchez this summer, but Arsenal would understandably prefer not to sell the 28-year-old to one of their biggest Premier League rivals.

Unfortunately for them, however, it looks like Bayern think Sanchez is out of their price range due to his wage demands.

Asked by SportBild about Sanchez, he said: ‘I’m not involved in operational business. (Bayern CEO) Karl-Heinz Rummenigge hasn’t approached me, therefore the link with him doesn’t seem to be very strong.

‘The salaries being talked about up front of over €20 million (a year) are definitely an amount that isn’t feasible for FC Bayern.’

This follows recent quotes from Hoeness that Sanchez’s age could also be a factor as his club look for better value for money by targeting top young players, a strategy that looks to be paying off this summer with exciting buys such as Corentin Tolisso and Serge Gnabry.

‘You can’t build a new team with €100 million transfers for 29 and 30-year-olds. That isn’t a policy,’ he said last week.
