Napoli have rejected a £15million bid from Arsenal for their midfielder Jorginho, reports in Italy claim.

The 25-year-old has long been linked with a transfer to the Premier League with Liverpool and Arsenal thought to be chasing him in 2014 before he signed for Napoli.

Jorginho swapped Hellas Verona for Napoli in an £8m deal and Wenger is thought to have been eyeing the Brazilian-born midfielder since 2015.

Gazzetta dello Sport claim Arsenal have lodged an offer, but it was immediately rejected by the Serie A side.

Arsenal have been warned Jorginho is not for sale, even though he is not guaranteed a starting place at Napoli.

The Gunners have not found it easy in the transfer window so far with bids rejected for Monaco star Thomas Lemar and Lyon striker Alexandre Lacazette.

Jorginho has settled into the defensive slot in midfield after arriving from Verona as a player that could operate further upfront.

Napoli seem to be reluctant sellers and it is not known whether Arsenal will return will an improved bid.
