Arsenal are hopeful of agreeing new deals with star duo Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil by promising them a 20% wage increase if the Gunners return to the Champions League.

Both Sanchez and Ozil have 12 months to run on their existing deals and Arsene Wenger wants the pair to commit themselves to the club for the long-term.

Sanchez, especially, has a number of interested parties with the likes of Bayern Munich, Manchester City and Chelsea all keen on signing the Chile international.

The duo want parity with the Premier League’s highest earners and are demanding wages in excess of £300,000-a-week.

The Gunners are unwilling to spend that sort of cash on both players, especially given the fact that they have dropped into the Europa League.

However, according to the Daily Mail, Arsenal’s board are willing to get close to that figure and will install a clause that means their wages will increase by 20% should the club return to the Champions League for the 18/19 season.

Wenger’s side can achieve that via two routes next term – by finishing in the top four or by winning the Europa League.

Given that the Gunners are willing to offer in the region of the pair’s demands, a 20% increase in 12 months time could see the duo reach the wages they desire.
