John Terry wants to remain in the Surrey area, meaning Bournemouth and Crystal Palace have moved to the front of the queue for his signature.

The Chelsea captain announced this week that he was calling time on his career at Stamford Bridge after 22 years as a Blue.

Terry will exit at the end of the season and is deciding between transfer offers from China, America and closer to home.

And home is where Terry would like to stay close to with the defender having lived in Surrey with his family for over ten years.

Terry lives in Oxshott with his family and is considering joining another Premier League team so as to stay close to home.

Bournemouth and Palace have therefore the new frontrunners with the two clubs within driving distance of Oxshott.

West Bromwich Albion and Stoke City are also interested in signing Terry, but their chances are reduced due to their location.

Terry rejected a lucrative offer from China in January and is put off by the idea of relocating his family, according to the Telegraph.

Palace boss Sam Allardyce is a big admirer of Terry while Eddie Howe is hopeful his good relationship with Chelsea can sway the defender.

Terry will leave Chelsea at the age of 36 having captained the Blues through their most successful period.

The centre-back has won the Premier League four times as well as finally delivering a Champions League trophy to Chelsea in 2012.
