Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has revealed that he turned down loan offers for Joel Campbell in the summer transfer window.
The Costa Rica forward has enjoyed more playing time for the Gunners recently, filling in out wide due to injuries suffered by Theo Walcott and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.
Wenger has praised Campbell’s performances since coming into the team this term, explaining why he didn’t want to let him go.
‘This season, I did not want to give him out because he has a genuine team attitude and he is a fighter,’ the Frenchman is quoted in the Daily Star.
‘We had offers to loan him out but I am very keen to keep him here.’
Campbell, 23, has one goal and one assist to his name this season.
