Arsenal are increasingly confident of wrapping up the signing of Manchester United winger Luis Nani.

The Portuguese star looks set to leave Old Trafford this summer after the Premier League champions refused to bow to his pay demands during talks over a new contract.

Turkish giants Galatasaray were interested in making a move but claim to have been priced out of the transfer – with United apparently wanting £8.5million for the 26-year-old who only has one year to run on his current deal.

Juventus and Monaco are other possible destinations for Nani, but it is Arsenal who are now appear the front-runners to land the former Sporting Lisbon attacker.

Manager Arsene Wenger has plenty of money to spend during the off-season and sees the winger as a useful addition to his squad.

The Gunners were linked with a move for Nani during the winter but Sir Alex Ferguson refused to let the unsettled star leave.

Nani moved to Old Trafford in 2007 in a £17million deal.

He has shown flashes of brilliance during his six year stay in the north west but has struggled to live up to the standards of his countryman Cristiano Ronaldo.

He was a bit-part player during United’s title-winning campaign last season, making just seven starts and scoring three goals.
