Paris Saint Germain have refused to rule out signing either Chelsea’s Ashley Cole or Manchester United’s Patrice Evra this summer – but did quash any suggestion of a January move.

The Ligue 1 side’s director of football, Leonardo, told L’Equipe that PSG were already well stocked at left-back, but admitted the club would consider bidding for one of the pair later in the year.

When quizzed on the duo, Leonardo said: ‘Cole or Evra? No. With Christophe Jalley, Maxwell, Gregory van der Wiel and Sylvain Armand, I think we have what it takes. In the future we will talk about it, but not now.’

Cole was strongly tipped to be moving to France at the end of the season after a clever Twitter hoax suggested PSG had mistakenly announced his capture.

The Blues left-back, who is out of contract in the summer, has since been linked with a switch to Manchester United, which would seemingly make Evra surplus to requirement at Old Trafford.

Another star on PSG’s radar is Real Madrid’s Cristiano Ronaldo, and Leonardo hinted it may not be long before they make their move for the Ballon d’Or runner-up.

‘Cristiano Ronaldo? Paris St Germain have become a club where anything is possible. However, he still has an ongoing contract with Real Madrid and we have to realise that he will not leave Madrid for just any club.

‘When we are discussing a possible transfer for a player like Cristiano Ronaldo, there are only four or five clubs that can be taken into consideration. PSG are one of those.’
