Despite our apparent interest in Karim Benzema, a new player has entered the game.

Our search for a striker continues with talks over the Real Madrid man cooling and according the reports, we’ve turn out attention to Robert Lewandowski.

The striker featured heavily for Bayern Munich last season – 49 times in fact, and scored 25 goals. The polish international is talented and would do well in our squad but the Bundesliga side are reluctant to accept the £35m we’re willing to offer.

The 26-year-old is entering into his prime so, I dare say, if Bayern were willing to let him go, that could be a fair price given today’s financial climate regarding strikers. However, ‘if‘ is the operative word.

If we are going to sign a striker, I still think Benzema sounds like the most probable. Madrid are far more likely to let him go than Bayern let Lewandowski. In addition, although we’ve been linked with the latter numerous times too, the Benzema rumours seem to genuinely hotting up, indicating there could be some truth behind them.
