Arsene Wenger believes his Arsenal side made some wrong decisions against Chelsea in their 0-0 draw yesterday and this prevented the Gunners from winning the game.

Despite having the most possession and the higher number of shots, Arsenal failed to score against the Blues on Sunday, and Wenger believes this is down to his team making ‘dangerous‘ decisions over the course of the game.

“In the dangerous situations we created in the first half, what we usually do – the decisions are quick and sharp – and today the decisions in the final ball were not always right. All the build-up was very good, very quick, but the final ball wasn’t there,” he said.

On whether these incorrect decisions were made because of anxiety surrounding the fixture and pressure to beat not only Chelsea, Wenger said, “It’s always difficult to know that straight away after the game.”

Understandably, the boss didn’t want the focus of the match to be about his and Jose Mourinho’s rivalry or his record against the manager, saying, “It’s about our club and our team, not about me. What you want is to win the game for the club. The rest may be good for media talk but it’s less interesting [for me]. What is important is what happens on the football pitch.”

The draw marks the 13th time Wenger has been unable to beat the Portuguese manager and, considering how he believed we should’ve won, I imagine the loss of two points is a bitter pill to swallow.

Fortunately, there’s always next season and I’m sure we’ll be in a far stronger position then.

It’s also worth noting that Jose Mourinho has never won at the Emirates in the league while Arsene Wenger most certainly has at Stamford Bridge.

Just saying.
