Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba will not play against Tottenham Hotspur in the last-ever match at White Hart Lane. And while normally that would be reason enough for Spurs fans to celebrate, it’s actually a sad state of affairs. Pogba has not travelled with the United squad to north London after the death of his father.

Sky Sports is reporting that Fassou Antoine passed away at the age of 79 after a long illness, and Pogba has returned home to be with his family. This is obviously an extremely sad turn of events and we wish Pogba comfort and healing in the days to come.

Pogba’s absence probably doesn’t change things too much for United, as it was quite likely he wouldn’t start anyway. While Arsenal’s win on Saturday means United are still four points behind the Gunners for fourth place, but with a game in hand. That said, Jose Mourinho is still expected to rotate his squad for the highly emotional match against Spurs, and it’s likely he’ll want as fresh of a side as possible when they play Ajax in thee Europa League final.

Marouane Fellaini will also miss the match for United due to suspension after Sergio Aguero pushed his forehead into Fellaini’s face. Ashley Young, Marcos Rojo, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, and Luke Shaw are all out injured.
