Manchester City and Arsenal both make offers for Sead Kolasinac

Could City be closing in on a new full-back? They'll have to beat Wenger to do it

Manchester City supporters have been calling for the signing of several fresh new full-backs for about a billion years, and this coming summer appears to be the one where the fans’ wishes will be granted.

Rumors are flying around that City are currently fighting with Arsenal over the signature of Schalke 04 left-back Sead Kolašinac. Reports state that both Premier League giants are offering the 23-year-old £120,000 per week to secure his signing on a free transfer given that the player is out of contract next month.

Weeks ago it was reported that Arsenal had already wrapped up a deal with the Bosnian, but City remain in contention and hope to beat the Gunners in the race.

This signing appears to be very doable. Pep Guardiola is a very tempting manager to work with, substantially more than Arsene Wenger, which certainly gives City an advantage. Guardiola could decide that there are other targets who would fit the side better, though, such as Valencia’s José Gayà, Tottenham’s Danny Rose or Monaco’s Benjamin Mendy.

Kolasinac would be an exciting signing, especially for free. We'll probably need someone other than him, but having Kolasinac on the squad would be a really good thing.
