Manchester City vs Swansea City, 2017 Premier League: Predicted Lineup

Man City look to build on their impressive win at home to a tough Swansea side.

Manchester City are still sitting just outside the Top 4 in the Premier League table. Luckily City’s upcoming schedule isn't full of top four rivals. Swansea City represent a formidable challenge but one most City supporters should feel confident in their squad to face and win. Consider also that City are finally fully healthy other than Ilkay Gundogan (out for the season), and the Sky Blues should be looking for all three points in this one.

Manager Pep Guardiola is going to have his hands full all over the pitch when selecting his starting lineup. At this point there seems to be just one or two players that are locks for the starting lineup. The choice in goal isn't an easy one anymore either as Willy Caballero started the last Premier League match and kept a clean sheet.

Below are the eleven players I believe Pep will select to start against the Swans. As for a formation the 4-3-3 is most likely.

Goalkeeper: Willy Caballero

The Argentine keeper has two consecutive clean sheets, one in the FA Cup and one in the Premier League. With Claudio Bravo’s poor current form, Caballero gives Pep the best chance to win.

Defense: Bacary Sagna, Nicolas Otamendi, John Stones, Aleksander Kolarov

There should be no changes at the back from the side that handled West Ham United in midweek. Pablo Zabaleta and Vincent Kompany are certainly a threat to force a change, but Pep has been reluctant to make a change until absolutely necessary when a defensive combination works. If City have to protect the lead later in the game, don’t be surprised to see Kompany coming on as extra defensive help.

Midfield: Yaya Touré, David Silva, Kevin De Bruyne

Once again no changes for City in the middle of the park either. Against a team that will allow City to dominate in possession, Yaya Touré should be enough of a defensive cover in midfield. Silva and De Bruyne will be allowed to move closer to the box to help the forwards and create chances. Fernandinho is certainly a candidate to make a start, but Touré shouldn't need the extra help in midfield against an ultra defensive Swansea team.

Forwards: Leroy Sané, Sergio Agüero, Gabriel Jesus

The only change from the side that demolished West Ham could be up front. Picking City’s forwards was the hardest part in trying to predict the starting eleven. Gabriel Jesus has been amazing since arriving in January and Leroy Sané is simply impossible to drop right now.

Agüero has vowed to fight for his place and plans to be at City for the foreseeable future, and he should get his starting spot back on Sunday. Raheem Sterling is the man left out simply because there’s so much talent up front and a team cannot have 12 players on the pitch.

Formation

So that’s our predicted lineup! As for a score prediction a 2-0 victory for City should be something achievable. Goals from Agüero and Sané lead the Blues to victory over the Swans.
