Swansea City vs Manchester City, 2016 EFL Cup: Team news, injuries, suspensions

The new season of the League Cup starts on Wendesday for Manchester City, as the Citizens kick off their title defense with a trip to Wales to face Swansea City. This will be the first of two straight matches between the Swans and the Sky Blues at Liberty Stadium, and before their Premier League clash on Saturday, the two sides will look for a place in the fourth round of the EFL Cup.

Pep Guardiola will take charge of his first domestic cup match as City manager, and he's planning a lot of changes for this game. For start, three of his most important players will not be available: Nolito and Sergio Agüero are suspended, and David Silva is still doubtful to play with a hamstring problem. Midfielder Fernando is also injured and will not play, and Yaya Touré has been ruled out because his agent is a nutcase.

There are good news though, as captain Vincent Kompany could make his season debut in Wales. After four months out with an injury, the Belgian has been working hard to be fully fit, and he will have a chance to play, according to the manager. Another player making his return is Fabian Delph, who missed the last week of training with an unspecified problem, but is now fit and could start as Guardiola plans to use a reserve team against the Swans.

Five Academy players will be part of the squad and might all start on Wednesday, including 17-year-old wonder boy Brahim Díaz, who could get his first taste of action under the new manager. Leroy Sané will make his full debut as well, and the German star will finally have a good number of minutes to prove his worth.
