Zlatan Ibrahimovic latest: Swedish star to sign short-term Manchester United deal after rapid recovery from injury

Zlatan Ibrahimovic could be set for a surprise return to Manchester United, with the Swedish star expected to sign a short-term deal with the Premier League club following a rapid recovery from knee surgery.

Ibrahimovic suffered a serious knee injury in the Europa League in April which ruled him out for the rest of the season and seemingly brought around a premature end to his Red Devils career.

The injury blow saw United opt out of the possibility of an extension, leading to their top scorer being released at the end of last season.

The 35-year-old striker netted 28 goals in all competitions for United last season, in his debut campaign in English football.

However, the popular frontman remained with the club, working his way back to fitness at their Carrington training centre.

And now, according to The Sun, Zlatan could be offered a fresh deal by United after stunning medical staff by his quick recovery.

Initial reports had claimed the striker was aiming towards a return in the New Year, but it has now been suggested he is well ahead of schedule and may be passed fit by October.

It means the super Swede is set to be given a short-term deal until the end of the season, having been such a hit at Old Trafford last term - ending his debut Premier League season as their top scorer.

Recent reports have claimed Major League Soccer outfit LA Galaxy are keen on signing the superstar, and a move to the USA certainly makes sense at this stage of his career.

But Ibrahimovic, who has been working with his own physio together with United staff, is said to keen on continuing his career in Manchester.
