Transfer report: Liverpool and Tottenham on alert as Napoli put Lorenzo Insigne up for sale at £44million

Liverpool and Tottenham are on red alert after the news Napoli are ready to sell Lorenzo Insigne for £44million.

The forward has been locked in contract negotiations with the club since the summer as he looks to extend his stay past June 2019.

But talks have broken down over the player's wages as he is reportedly demanding a salary of over £100,000-a-week.

That, according to Calciomercato, has annoyed Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis and he is ready to sell Insigne.

De Laurentiis, however, will not let the 25-year-old go on the cheap and has set a valuation of £44m.

News of Insigne's possible departure will have alerted both Liverpool and Tottenham, who have tracked the Italian in the past.
