Transfer news: Schalke close to completing £8.75million deal for midfield starlet eyed by Arsenal

Schalke are closing in on a deal to land Arsenal target Amine Harit.

The Gunners have been tracking the Nantes sensation, who has become a mainstay in the first team aged just 20.

But Arsenal are not the only club hot on his heels, with Schalke also monitoring the midfielder's progress throughout the campaign.

And now, according to French outlet TF1, the Bundesliga side are close to rubber-stamping a deal to sign him.

Schalke and Nantes have agreed on a fee of £8.75m and personal terms are now being discussed with Harit.

The young Frenchman is said to have agreed on a four-year deal, although there is still a chance that new Nantes boss Claudio Ranieri could convince him to stay put.
