REVEALED! Why Bundesliga starlet Naby Keita snubbed Arsenal, Liverpool and Man City in the summer

Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester City and Southampton all attempted to land Naby Keita in the summer, according to the Red Bull Leipzig youngster.

The 21-year-old midfielder shot to prominence at Salzburg last season when he hit 12 goals in 29 appearances in the Austrian top flight.

That form attracted the attention of a long list of elite European clubs but it was Leipzig who won the race to land him for £13million during the summer.

Now Keita has claimed that he snubbed interest from no fewer than four Premier League clubs in order to head to Germany.

He told SportNet: "Arsenal, Manchester City and Southampton were all interested in signing me and Liverpool as well, although I did not speak with their coach.

"I did not want to join a big Champions League club right away. It is too early for that. I want to prove myself in the Bundesliga first now."
