Mourinho admits shock at seeing Lampard in a Man City shirt

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has admitted he was surprised to see Frank Lampard loaned to Manchester City.

Lampard joined MLS side New York City in the summer after his contract with Chelsea expired, bringing to an end his 13-year spell at Stamford Bridge.

However, shortly after the move the 36-year-old was loaned to Manchester City on a six-month deal, a move which has shocked Lampard's former boss Mourinho.

"I wouldn't imagine that if you asked me three, four or five years ago," said Mourinho.

"Even a few months ago when he signed for the New York team I was not expecting that [he would move to Manchester City].

"But it is his decision and his life. He has my respect for that."
