Manchester United transfer report: Jose Mourinho demands Toni Kroos swap to be part of deal if David de Gea joins Real Madrid

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho is demanding midfielder Toni Kroos be part of any deal which takes David de Gea to Real Madrid, according to reports.

Just weeks after it was claimed the Spanish giants had ended their pursuit of De Gea, latest reports claim they are preparing a fresh bid of around £60million for the Red Devils goalkeeper.

Los Blancos have been tracking the 26-year-old Spain international for many years and see De Gea as their next long-term number one.

There is growing speculation Real will eventually land De Gea, with the keeper said to be keen on a return to his hometown.

But Manchester United are playing hard ball over the glovesman, and, according to the Daily Mirror, Mourinho is now ready to counter their offer by demanding Germany international Kroos be included if the deal is to be done.

Kroos experienced a largely peripheral role with Real Madrid following his move from Bayern Munich in 2014.

But the 27-year-old midfielder has become a key player under boss Zinedine Zidane, and the club are therefore reluctant to let him leave the Bernabeu.
