Manchester United FC news: Paul Parker warns Jose Mourinho he is facing his ‘biggest ever season’ as a manager

This season could be the biggest of Jose Mourinho’s managerial career, according to former Manchester United defender Paul Parker.

Mourinho has won major honours with every club he's been at and led United to League Cup and Europa League glory in his first year at Old Trafford. 

But Parker says the pressure is now on the Portuguese to deliver success for United in the competitions that matter most: the Premier League and the Champions League.

Speaking on the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast, Parker said: "That is why they have got him there - not to finish sixth and use the trapdoor to get into Europe.

"They are looking to do it properly and the proper way to do it for Manchester United is to go into it as champions. That is the way you go into a Champions League and then you go in there and try and win that. That is what Man United want.

"They desperately want to win the league. Jose Mourinho has won the Champions League a few times so they want him to go and win it [too].

"This season may be his biggest ever season because he is doing it at a club that expects it."
