Lazio are ready to make their move for Manchester United and Liverpool target Stefan de Vrij.

The Dutch defender is said to be a target for new manager Louis van Gaal, who knows all about him after his time in charge of the Netherlands.

Meanwhile, Liverpool are also long-term admirers of the Feyenoord man and manager Brendan Rodgers made a personal visit to watch him in action against PSV in February.

But now, according to Italian newspaper Il Messaggero, Lazio are lining up a £7m offer for De Vrij, after missing out on their No.1 defensive target Davide Astori, who opted to join Roma.

De Vrij is said to be keen on linking up with Van Gaal at Old Trafford but if Lazio move first, Feyenoord may be forced to sell.
